Avevo comprato i semi di lino da tanto tempo ed un paio di settimane fa mi sono finalmente decisa a farne un gel per avere un'alternativa naturale ed efficace alla spuma per fissare i miei ricci. Trattandosi di primo esperimento ho pasticciato parecchio e man mano vi dirò perchè - per dosi e procedimento ho seguito prima Belle Haleine e poi il forum Bellezza Verde per le indicazioni per il gel in microonde.

I bought linseed long time ago and a couple of weeks ago I finally decided to make a gel out of it to have a good and natural alternative to give my curls some good definition. Since it was my first try I played around a bit and I'll tell you why step by step - as for quantities and process I referred to Belle Haleine and Bellezza Verde forum (microwave process).
Ho seguito la ricetta scrupolosamente ma dimezzato le dosi...forse non era adatta la padellina o (quasi sicuramente) era poca l'acqua, però ho ottenuto del gel non troppo 'gommoso' (vedi foto seguente) - ci sono rimasta un po' così perchè era un po' pochino (scusate il giro di parole) ed inoltre notavo che i semi avevano ancora del gel che li avvolgeva ma la trama del colino era troppo fitta per raccoglierlo ed è stato a questo punto che ho seguito le indicazioni del forum Bellezza Verde...
I followed the recipe carefully but I halved the dose... I might have used the wrong pan (most likely) or poured not enough water but I got a not so 'rubbery' gel (see following picture) - I was a bit disappointed because I got just a little plus I noticed that there still was some gel wrapping the seeds and the strainer mesh was too thick so I followed the forum's directions...
...quindi ho messo i semi in una tazza e li ho ricoperti d'acqua e lasciati riposare per una notte...
so I put the seeds in a cup and covered with water all night long...
Il mattino dopo ho aggiunto dell'altra acqua (ho esagerato!) e messo al microonde per poco più di 5 minuti, poi ho filtrato e ripetuto quest'azione più volte per cercare di raccogliere più gel possibile. Il risultato lo vedete qui sotto, un'acqua un po' densa e dal leggero profumo (e colore) di miele. Non avendo aggiunto del consevante ho versato poi il resto nelle formine da ghiaccio e congelato. La prossima volta proverò ad aggiungere meno acqua ma tutto sommato non ho avuto grossi problemi ad usarlo così com'era.

The day after I added more water (too much!) and put in microwave for a bit more than 5 minutes, then filtered and repeated this for various times in order to get as much gel as possible. You can see the results below, a slightly dense water with a mild honey scent and colour. Since I didn't add any preservative I poured the remainder in the ice cubes tray and put in freezer. Next time I'll try not to pour too much water but in the end it wasn't a big issue so far.
Tadààààààààà!!! Peccato che in foto non si veda così bene ma i ricci sono ben definiti, non sono appiccicosi nè secchi, il primo giorno profumano anche leggermente di miele e si sporcano meno facilmente....satisfaction!!
So there you go!!! It's a pity you can't tell so much from the picture but curls are well defined, they're not sticky nor dry, on the same day of washingt they slightly smell like honey and it's less likely to get dirty.....satisfaction!!
